The Bible is very clear when it comes to fear and the influences of the devil, in chapter 6 of the book of Ephesians we are told that our walk with God is to include putting on the full armor of God to defend ourselves.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil’s evil tricks.
Ephesians 6:11 (NCV)
We are to wear the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness and to put on the shoes to stand firm in our desire to share the gospel. To take up the shield of faith, the helmet of God’s saving power and the sword of the word of God that comes from the Spirit. Nowhere in this text does it suggest that we put on any sort of armor to protect our backside as we flee in retreat. Instead we are to have the love of God in our lives, which is the ultimate solution to fear.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…
