Fear Not Preview

A preview of scripture that identifies those passages that demonstrate and direct us to not be afraid…to have faith and trust in God.

Isaiah 44:08

Do not be afraid, my people! You know that from ancient times until now I have predicted all that would happen, and you are my witnesses. Is there any other god? Is there some powerful god I never heard of”

Isaiah 44:8 (GNT)

Do not be afraid of what you witness in the world or things you have no control over. We can depend on His promises, He is in control. He is to be worshiped!

Psalm 119:38-40

Keep your promise to me, your servant—the promise you make to those who obey you. Save me from the insults I fear; how wonderful are your judgments! I want to obey your commands; give me new life, for you are righteous.

Psalm 119:38-40 (GNT)

The criticism we receive from man cannot compare to the judgment of the Lord, but it can harm our Christian witness and reputation. We pray that God would use the contempt of men for the sake of His witness and give us the desire to know Him more.

Psalm 116:01-04

I love the Lord, because he hears me; he listens to my prayers. He listens to me every time I call to him. The danger of death was all around me; the horrors of the grave closed in on me; I was filled with fear and anxiety. Then I called to the Lord, I beg you, Lord, save me!

Psalm 116:1-4 (GNT)

When it seems like you are at the end of your rope, do not allow fear and anxiousness to get the best of you as it only serves to compound issues. God loves to hear from us, so turn to Him in faithful prayer and place yourself under His protection, let prayer be your first resort… not your last.

Psalm 112:07

He is not afraid of receiving bad news; his faith is strong, and he trusts in the LORD.

Psalm 112:7(GNT)

As a responsible believer, do not be afraid or dwell on bad news, rumors or gossip which only serves to frustrate, but to have a heart that is grounded in faith with complete confidence and trust in God.

Psalm 049:16-17

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, When the glory of his house is increased; For when he dies he will carry nothing away; His glory will not descend after him.

Psalm 49:16-17 (NASB)

Biblical Truth: Do not be envious or fearful of those with worldly riches and power, for the wealth of this world does not pass on to the next. Remember that we all enter the world as sinful people, but believers exit the world, through grace, renewed and covered in the richness and righteousness of Christ.

Psalm 049:05-06

I am not afraid in times of danger when I am surrounded by enemies, by evil people who trust in their riches and boast of their great wealth.

Psalm 49:5-6 (GNT)

Biblical Truth: There is no reason to be afraid of people, even those with affluence and wealth, they have no power. When judgment comes, those who put their hope in the wealth of the world will be afraid, but those who trust in the Lord will be safe.

Psalm 003:03-06

But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

Psalm 3:3-6 (KJV)

Biblical Truth: Regardless of criticism, intimidation and judgment from man, we commit ourselves to God and depend on His blessings. Our confidence in Him is built up through submission to Him.

We sang Psalm 3 at a church Christmas concert a few years ago, I hope you enjoy this audio clip:

Job 11:13-15

So commit yourself to God completely. Reach out your hands to him for help. Get rid of all of the sin you have. Don’t let anything that is evil stay in your tent. Then you can face others without feeling any shame. You can stand firm without being afraid.

Job 11:13-15 (NIrV)

Biblical Truth: Set your heart on God and reach out to Him with the full assurance of faith that we are washed with the blood of Christ. The more we fix ourselves on Him, the less we have to fear.

2 Kings 06:15-17

When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha. “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

2 Kings 06:15-17 (NLT)

Biblical Truth: Do not make things out to be worse than they are; turn to God so that our eyes are open to see things as they really are. God is larger than anything.

1 Samuel 12:20

Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.”

1 Samuel 12:20 (NASB)

Biblical Truth: God did not choose us based on our good merits, had He done so we might fear He would abandon us for our bad merits. Though our evil choices displease Him, He will not abandon His covenant, so do not abandon your hope in His mercy. He is able to use all things for His good.
