Fear Not Preview

A preview of scripture that identifies those passages that demonstrate and direct us to not be afraid…to have faith and trust in God.

Deuteronomy 20:08

The officers will continue, “Is any man afraid? Is anyone scared? Let him go home. Then the other men won’t lose hope too.”

Biblical Truth: Fear can be contagious like a virus, but God can strengthen and protect us from its spread. Do not allow the fear of those who are afraid infect you.

Exodus 20:20

Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. God has come to test you and instill a deep and reverent awe within you so that you won’t sin.”

Biblical Truth: Do not allow the influence of the devil come between you and God. Have a humble and sincere reverence of His majesty, be obedient to His authority and dread His displeasure. Stand in awe of Him to be motivated and attentive in your walk.

Genesis 50:19-20

But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you?  You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.

Biblical Truth: When we ask forgiveness from someone we have offended, do not place them in such high a position that we are afraid of their disapproval, make peace with God and you will find it easier to make peace with man.

Genesis 35:17

And when her labor was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son.”

Biblical Truth: Though pain and sorrows exist, we can endure knowing that a reward awaits us. As children of God we take comfort in being absolved with eternal salvation and look forward to what lay ahead without fear.

Genesis 21:17-19

But God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, “Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants.” Then God opened Hagar’s eyes, and she saw a well full of water. She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink.

Biblical Truth: God’s willingness and readiness to help in times of trouble is an encouragement for us to turn to Him for help in all things. Do not be in anguish, but allow God to open your eyes to the comfort that awaits you.

Genesis 15:01

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

Biblical Truth: Do not be intimidated by the revenge or envy of others regardless of the circumstances. God is our reward and encouragement.

Hebrews 13:05-06

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” Let us be bold, then, and say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”

With God as our helper, we have no need to fear, envy or be dissatisfied. He will never leave nor turn His back on us, so be content with what God has blessed you.

Ephesians 03:11-12

That was God’s plan from the beginning. He has worked it out through Christ Jesus our Lord. Through him and through faith in him we can approach God. We can come to him freely. We can come without fear.

We have no obstacles to God because of our faith in Christ. We can go to Him in confidence and not be afraid.

Luke 05:08-11

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

Luke 5:8-11 (ESV)

What greater things does Christ have in store for us, put the fears and cares of this world behind you and boldly follow Him.

Matthew 28:10

Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Christ is risen, He is with us. His resurrection silences fear and fills us with hope and joy. Now go out and proclaim it!
